just got my comp. had it for about 4 days and for some reason some programs install and some dont. at the same time some programs that i try to bring up will all of a sudden stop responding and when i try to cancel the process in task manager it doesnt dissappear. also another problem that i seem to be having is that when i go to shut down my comp or reboot it from the start menu it doesnt work. im not very hardware savvy and im learning little by little if neone can help me with ne suggestions as to what my be wrong it would definately be appreciated. as far as i know im updated on the most current drivers for these

there were no error message and the program i was going to install was 3dsmax but also the whole thing with the not shutting down or rebooting is another thing that really bothers me...unfortunately thats all that i can tell you unfortunately i dont know enough to be able to even come close to diagnosing the problem...thx for th help...
 
Go here and download PowerMax from the Maxtor site.

Insert a blank floppy, and double click the executable file. Boot from this floppy. (You may need to change your boot order in the BIOS).

Run the diagnostic and it will tell you if your HD is the problem.

Post back with results.
