Hey guys,

New to the forums... I built my 2nd PC and (my sig shows the details)... My first mobo was a gigabyte k8n pro sli... and I had a few problems as far as trying to OC at all (just raising the FSB only would get me to 2.68...on a FX60!).. I went with the A8N32-SLI Deluxe and used the AI nos (10% OC when needed) and things ran fine... (3D mark 06 hit 7100ish, and showed my FX60 @2.8ish) then... I read about coolbits... I ran the detect settings, it set me at 516ish/1.5ish, I selected (run at startup) re-booted, and tried to run fear, locked-up =/... re-booted again, and tried DoD source, -same problem lock-up. I set it back to no OC, and rebooted, all games ran fine....Except... the graphics looked" i alil diffrent, I can't be sure as all settings are maxed as far as they can go... and through the installs and new mobos... I hadn't played for a bit. The 7800's idle at 46c and peak at 56ish under load, this is from running fear/DoD and alt-tabbing to the nvidia desktop temp... seeemed a lil hot... I guess what i'm wondering is, with my setup.. am i running about right? Did i possibly damage the gpu's? and what can I check to make sure everything is running right? at the end of the night, my cpu (ctrl-alt-del) was running at 50%-60% with nothing running- was a weird spike in cpu use... I shut down, and everything was normal this morning... but only ran the system for 5 mins... any suggestions/comments would really help!!

Thx in advance!

the textures in day of defeat (ie the grass/sand) looked more pixely (if thats a word) and on BF2, moving from side to side would cause a "twitch" (when turning left/right full around).. I can't remeber if that happened previously or not, and this all in multi-player online not the games itself.

I also read that enabling coolbits for SLI and Single GPU's is a diffrent process... I just used the 2.0 download and install version.... not sure if that was ok or no? Article:http://www.pcmech.com/show/optimize/896/2/
But* this article uses a 6800.

I guess all in all I am just worried that I did something wrong, or might have damaged something... everything boots fine, no "beeps", desktop is fine, etc etc. /worried though.

BTW thank you for replying... I was getting worried that no one was on today reading the forums and I was trying very hard to research this all prior to returning home from work to my PC heh =P!

I also got this from another forum, and it made me feel a little better... scroll down to "can oc'ing dmg a gpu" section... would you agree..? http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=398013

I guess what had me really worried is 1) I ran it to detect settings, using coolbits, and run on startup, both i guess are not the best ways to do this... Also the XFX comes oc'ed to 450/1.2ish I think already... and after running it at the detect OC settings everything on the desktop ran fine, starting FEAR up was ok, till i actually got to the enter for multi-player, and I had a complete lock-up to where I had to manually reboot the system (this happened twice until I set overclocking to off) and then the games ran fine, just looked diffrent than I remember.... but, the CPU is on AI nos, a program that increases the CPU "(when needed) .... again please help =P
