Need a lightweight laptop

My wife needs a lightweight laptop for office tasks. She's often on the road (she's an interpreter), so weight is important. No games, no super-computing tasks either. General office applications, check emails, browse the web, watch a movie during a break, etc.

Can't be a Mac, because I'll have to provide over-the-phone support :) ('honey, how do I do this and that in Word?')

What are my best options? I'm leaning towards Dell's XPS, but a 15", rather than a 13" (that screen is just way too small).

Is there anything else worth considering?

Thanks.

Uh, get a Mac and install Windows on it? But you'll probably have to buy a mouse to make right clicking easier.
At first, I found the MacBook at first really small at 13", but you get used to it after a week.

We buy Dell Latitude D6xx models for work from Dell Small Business, a 14.1" screen and is a couple of pounds lighter than most 15" laptops.

Wow, Latitude D6xx is indeed the most lightweight they have... But it's about $400 more expensive....
Thanks, I'll have to think some more.

Dell Vostro 1400? It's a rather nice laptop, all the Vostros (aside from the new 1510 ones) are basically Inspirons in a better case and with slightly more love and care put into them. I bought a Vostro 1500 last month for a knock-down price thanks to discounts they had on and e-vouchers and I'm absolutely loving it.

I also recommend a Dell Vostro 1400 for economical non-gaming use.

If you're on a budget, Dell Outlet (http://outlet.dell.com) has excellent deals on refurbs which can save you an additional several hundred dollars. All of the Dell Outlet machines come with a full manufaturer's warranty, and a money-back guarantee if you're not happy with your machine.

Good luck!
