I advise you to wait until after July 1. You don't actually need it now and any new machine sold after that will come with a no charge voucher for an upgrade to Windows 7.

Any confirmation on that? As far as i knew that was a rumor with Windows 7. And since the rumored release date changed, i assumed the date on that would have changed also..

And i sorta already have a free Win7 upgrade.. Intel Retail Edge FTW!

The details haven't been published yet but they will have to do a Technology Guarantee to support hardware vendors in the "Back to School" surge. The dates are supposed to be July 1 - January 1. If you don't actually need a machine between then and now, it's probably worth waiting.

One advantage of getting the license with the machine is that some vendors (i.e. Dell) won't support anything but what is delivered with the machine. If you get a license voucher with your machine, they are obligated to support it if/when you upgrade. They will still support the hardware but it's just another hassle to be avoided.

I dont see any need to have Windows 7 on both my laptop and my desktop.. The laptop is going to be streamlined with only what i consider "crucial software" anyway. Plus, I dont have any problem with Vista, so having Windows 7 on 1 out of 2 machines is enough for me..
