Im having surgery the begging of summer and I need a laptop because ill be in bed for 1 in-a-half to two months. I can go over $1000 P4/p4m/pm/xp. No celarons/durons/p2/ maybe a p3 if it?s a fast one. I was hoping for none integrated graphics but I can live with it. I?ll be using it for old games and surfing the web. Can any one help?

Hey, I'm not sure if you are interested in possibly buying used or if you are just looking for suggestions on new ones, but I dropped you a PM on my laptop for sale. Thanks!

Since you ll be in bed, weight and battery life wont matter much...

Get a Dell Inspiron 5100, or even a 5150, in a hot deal...

The machine is big, but powerful and reliable...

Then again, abhi, it will! He will probably be having the laptop on his lap.. and heavy p4 machine with crappy batterylife, is often synonymous with HEAT

best deal for the money would be the 5100 or 5150 from dell...i'm sure there's an outlet near his bed somewhere...The heat won't be that bad if he has the laptop on top of his pants...

it gets to be an issue if its making direct contact with the skin...

i say go with a 5100 or 5150

I would suggest a "laptop desk" if you're planning on always having one on your lap. I've heard the ones at www.lapworksinc.com are pretty nice, though I have ever personally used one...

I having growth removed. It?s on my back near my butt, so I can?t sit at my computer after the surgery. I think I will go with the dell but ive got 3 months to think about it.

I hope he has a outlet nearby...

I dont think 8 lbs will be that much of a big deal...

Also for 1000$ he wont get a decently configured Pentium M machine...
