Need a high quality power supply

I'm not too familiar with the latest AMD/Intel motherboard power interfaces, but I would like a high performance/high quality power supply that will work with the ATX interface.
I'm not necessarily looking for that extra bling factor, I just need something that will provide +5.00V or higher for the +5V.

It seems every PSU I use on this Abit KX7-333 (Athlon XP2100) the +5V dips down to 4.6V-4.7V.

Any ideas or recommendations?

If noise and price is no matter then PC P&C 510 SLI.
If you like a silent PSU, then a Seasonic S-12 600W. (or lower if you don't need that much juice.)

Thanks for reminding me, yes a quiet and cool PSU would be helpful! I'll check out the Seasonic.

CPU mag just did a review and the Silverstone ST65ZF pulled 5.16 min and 5.19 max on the 5v rail, the highest in the pack. This is higher than the PCP&C 850SSI. But I'm curious as to why you fell you need a high 5v rating? Are you oc'ing? What are your wattage needs (post your system specs)? I'm guessing they aren't near 500-600W.

I used an online calculator and it looks like 330W will work with my current system, but I plan to upgrade in the next year or so. AMD Athlon 64 whatever with high end PCI-ex video card, RAID SATA etc... So it appears I will need a 500W-550W supply for that.

Don't solid state devices require a certain amount of voltage to run properly? My +12v, +3.3V look fine (slightly higher) but the +5V is 4.72V at 99% load and 4.80V at idle, that seems rather low does it not?

Those online power calculators are pretty useless. No single CPU/GPU systems needs 500 watts. This Seasonic should have you covered for just about anything you plan to upgrade to.

Regarding the 5v rail if you're using software it's probably just a low reading, software readings are not very accurate.
