What is all the info that we need for a heatware user profile??
What should be public and what should be private, required or optional... heres a short list that im gonna list off the top of my head and what i think the info should be...please give me suggestions...
Everything listed is REQUIRED unless otherwise specified....

First name (public)
Last name (public)
address (Private)
city (public)
country (public)
state (if applicable) (public)
zip code (btw: what do canadian zips look like?) (public)
Phone number (Private)(Optional)
Email addresse(s) (public)
all bbs usernames and bbs (public)
personal webpage (public)(Optional)
date joined heatware (publc)

if you have anything to add/modify to this list..let me know

Edit: Just for clarification, when i mean PUBLIC i mean that you must be a member and logged in to view that info..... and PRIVATE means that info is only available to ME unless you become a troll or something....

Email address should not be public unless you want spam robots going through your site gathering addresses.

Maybe ICQ/AIM or whatever other instant messager services..

Canadian postal codes are the following format: $#$ #$#
Where the $ is a letter, and the # is a number.

I do think email addies should be shown so that people can check its integrity. I understand spam are nasty, but how can we check if the heatware is not fake?

Also, only city, state and zip should be shown. We don't really need anything more than that.

It would be nice if we can login (and IP logging) to give heatwares so no one can give fake +ve evals.

That's all I can think of right now. And I am sure the guys below will come up with better ideas.

yeah, getting spam would/could be a problem, but i think that's something we should sacrifice here. If I have to choose from being spammed or trolled, I'd rather download some email headers.

you should make it so that you can only view the emails if you are a member or something like on anands' with the profiles

However, I think that the last name, city, and zip code should be included on a registration, however, it should not be made public or used at all in any circumstance unless warranted (i.e. that person was a troll and a thief, in which case, this info could be rather useful!).

I think address should be optional if you have already built up a decent amount of heatware. Maybe I'm paranoid but I don't like putting my address into databases.

I know, make it so that those with nick names starting with "H-A-P" get their heatware doubled! ;)

On a serious note - many people will object to having their entire home address displayed for public viewing. City, State, Zip Code and email address(es) should be sufficient.

All those sound good. I'm glad to see you're working on it, you provide possibly the best system for setting our mind at ease when trading. There are many thankful traders out there :D

Maybe a link to ebay feedback for fledgling members without much heatware?

Just a suggestion....nothing will replace Heatware as my number one trader verification tool.
