Does Rosetta Stone have a feature that corrects you after you speak? If so, then you'll probably need a mic on the headset you buy, but even cheapo headphones should be fine... you don't need all the fancy things you find on high end models for something so basic.
Headsets all come with mikes. Headphones do not. For Rosetts Stone, you need good quality in order to get good frequency response both ways - important to the nuances of language study. Does Rosetts Stone have any recommendations in their literature? For language study, stereo is not necessary.
