Need a hard drive test utility for XP

Jumpem

Lifer
I need a utility that will test the fitness of a hard drive running Windows XP. I think that my IBM 60GXP may be on it's way out. It had a corrupt file and wouldn't boot earlier. Checkdisk found 220KB of data in bad sectors. I tried the IBM drive fitness program but it doesn't run under XP. Thanks very much for any suggestions!

download the bootable disk that has IBM's drive fitness on it and stick this disk in and have it booted to and then the program will run, it isn't a windows program

SocrPlyr, I did just that earlier tonight but my machine wouldn't boot from the disk that was created. Someone else also told me that it didn't work with XP.

hmm i'm not really sure of any other fitness tests out there other than running a scandisk... sry
but here is a free bump for ya

Josh

IBM's Drive Fitness test works fine in XP. The file you download from here creates a bootable diskette if you run it. Here's a troublshooting page for the bootable diskette. If you're still having trouble, email me and I'll send you an image of the bootable diskette.
