I am trying to network 2 comps together with a d-link router. we both have win 2k, and when i go to "my network places" and "computers near me" i can see our comps, but when i try to access the other comp it asks for a password. i already set both the comps to have open "guest" access. any suggestions?
thanks

Install NetBEUI protocal and use the same workgroup name, and create accounts on each win2k workstation, and share away.

<< Install NetBEUI protocal >>

if he can "see" each computer in "Network Places," then he doesn't need to add an additional protocol, just the accounts should be sufficient (as oj already stated...good call oj!)

Damn, I just got thur this setting, Is it Just asking for a Password? or A username and password? What its doing is looking to see who is logging on to the file for what permissions, Since you yourself will be manipulating both PCs, Try to get in as Administrator, type in your Admin. Password, then check the "Remeber Password" Box, after that, you'll be home free.

Sounds silly, but make sure you have at least one shared folder on each comp (besides the default share).
