This is kinda hard as i dont have a gigabyte board but ill tell you how i set mine up... it should be in your manual though shouldn't it? You connect both HDs on separate channels with both jumper settings at MASTER. At first boot... you have to setup your array and what size you want the stripe. Then after that... you just treat it like a regular single drive. :) Partition it and then format. From the BIOS make your array the boot drive. Hope this helps... somewhat.

and since the HDD is the slowest piece of the computer, it doesnt hurt to jack up the speed by...oh at least 50% :)

I have a few questions:

1. Does the RAID array necessarily have to be the boot drive? You can set it just as a backup storage drive right?

2. I assume that you need a minimum of 2 drives for the RAID array? If so, do they need to be identical drives? I was thinking of getting the Maxtor Quiet Drives at either 60 or 80 gigs. That would make one big 120 or 160 gig drive right?

3. Can you partition that drive into smaller drives? I'd rather have smaller 40 gig drives or whatever..

4. I have the Asus A7V266-E. When I switch the JP2601 jumper from pins 12 (ATA) to pins 23 (RAID0/1) does that disable the ATA drives? Or does that just enable the RAID drives while the ATA drives run?

Thanks.
