Need a graphics card driver cleaner

I need a good graphics card driver cleaner.

I have tried using the one from Guru-3d but I am still unable to launch CCC 9.10 (either from the menu or by right clicking on the desktop). When I try to launch....nothing happens...nothing.

On top of that my audio no longer works after physically installing my HD4870.

P.S. In a few other threads people have mentioned using a driver cleaner while in safe mode? How does this work? I know how to get into safe mode (F8 during boot) but I don't know what option to select in order to use a driver cleaner.

i suggest you re-install windows, and refrain from using software that allegedly fixes windows. in my years of experience, i've found these to be redundant at best and disastrous at worst. possibly the one exception would be CrapCleaner.

Sounds like its trying set audio output via HDMI on the 4870. You need to get the drivers to work to disable that if you'd like.

As far as getting driver cleaner/sweeper to work in safe mode. It's pretty simple, install it like normal, reboot into safe mode (using f8 after BIOS screen or use msconfig). Run the driver cleaner/sweeper and select this drivers you want to remove. Reboot as normal, and install the latest.

If you want a little more detailed explanation just say so.

Windows has a built in "driver cleaner". Go into add/remove programs, find you driver, and click remove. It's not rocket surgery. Those 3rd party "cleaner" programs are at best worthless and at worst full of malware.

hum, i think there are residues left in the registry. try some other tools, system optimizer , registry cleaners or something, there may be one helpful. worse comes to the worst, reinstall the system

I haven't used ATI products in a while, but when I did, removing it via Add/Remove programs completely removed everything.

Unless it's plainly obvious that the Catalyst drivers aren't uninstalling properly, I would pursue another approach to troubleshooting your problem.

Could be a motherboard issue that prevents the onboard HDMI controller from functioning. e.g. an older Intel 915 or ATI RS482 board with a buggy BIOS.

Just Learning one thing you should never do is run driver sweeper before actually uninstalling your graphics drivers first. Running Driver Sweeper prior to uninstalling drivers will come with disastrous tidings.
