Hi,

I need help with purchasing router for my house. I recently moved into a 1200 sq ft apartment and my current router "Mi Router 4C" doesnt seem to cut it with respect to wifi range. I really need the wifi connection to pass through walls or narrow and 90 degree angled hallways/passages

Im on a 100 mpbs connection where i typically get around 80 mbps.

I have a budget of INR 5000 thats around USD 67. Now i was reviewing some routers in that range but then got lost with the number of options out there. Below are some that i came across:

Asus RT-Ac59u - INR 5500 - https://www.amazon.in/Asus-RT-AC59U-Dual-Gigabit-Router/dp/B07Z82WB3V/
TP Link Archer C7 - INR 5000
TP Link Archer A9 - INR 5000
Netgear R6850 Ac 2000 - INR 6200
Im not limiting myself to the above options, but thats all i was able to find in that price range.

Do i need something better for my house than the above options? or can i even go down in budget and pick up a TP Link Archer C60 for INR 2300? Or do i really need to splurge and go for TP link Archer A10 for INR 7000?

I can also get the internet cable to come into each room and set up a basic wifi router (MI Router 4C other the basic TP link router for Rs.1000) or set up a wifi extender in each room. is this a better option?

Im a home user and all i need is a stable internet connection with good range for my TV's in the hall and my 2 bedrooms which will be used to stream 4k content. max 2 TV's will be used simultaneously for viewing 4k content.

Please help me out. I've attached a layout of my house and the router and TV locations which need internet connection.

Wifi in India is tough due to the concrete and rebar construction as that blocks signals very well, especially 5g.

If you have coaxial cable, I would consider using moca devices to get ethernet to each area you need access. Then you can wire what you can and put a cheap access point for just that area.

Another option if you don't have coax is to use powerline adapters to do the same. Once you have stable wired ethernet, you can easily get cheap access points for wifi as needed.

Actually, as cheap as labor is in India--just get the house wired. It's usually not an option as the labor is expensive, but as cheap as labor is there even if they just can run the wire you can terminate it yourself and have wired everywhere which would give you the option for wifi everywhere too.

the problem with cables is that they'll be seen running across the house. hence i dont want to go the cable route. was hoping a good wifi router would do the trick

I doubt that any Single Wireless Router can solve your needs, and for sure Not a single Wireless Router for $67.

This is one of the most expensive one and I am sure that even it will be the solution.

If I was in this situation I would get 3 of this ....

Install one as a main Router and wire the other two as Access Points leading to carefully chosen locations.

I love my C5. :)

But that being said, the construction there is completely different than here. Every. Single. Building. Is made with concrete and rebar including the walls. Most walls are at least 6-8" of solid concrete and rebar--no way any wifi will be passing through that. Hell, radioactive gamma rays can't pass through that! lol!

There will need to be a wired backbone. And it should be cheap enough to do with no enforced building codes or whatnot since the wires can literally hang off the exterior of the building and just be run inside next to plumbing or whatever else. This would be the foundation for a proper network there.

You can go for TP-Link Archer A7 as it is affordable and comes with 2 years of warranty. The router speed is up to 1750 Mbps and can cover area up to 2500 sq. Ft. And the main advantage is that it is considered as the best router for 4k streaming in that price range.
