Need a good thank you letter I can send to a company that interviewed me........

thank them for opportunity, reference things you like about the company, how it's a great fit for you based on your experience, etc.

dear mr. guy,

thank you for taking the opportunity to meet with me [today]. i really enjoyed learning about your company and feel that i can strengthen it with my [related skillsets]. i find that my [discuss another skill here] will be very useful, yadda yadda. i also liked how you [something the company does], as that has always been an interest of mine.

[highlight some other skills here if you still have some, but don't write a long paragraph]

thank you again for taking the time to meet with me and i look forward to hearing from you.

sincerely,
triforceofcourage

Thank you letters suck. You either got the job (moved onto the shortlist?) based on your interview performance, or you're already forgotten about.

Out of all the people I interviewed, only one sent an e-mail before his rejection saying thanks. A second email asked where he could improve. Nice and everything but it didn't get him off the reject pile and I wasn't authorised to give him any constructive ciriticism because of "potential litigation issues" :disgust:

I went in for an interview the other day, horribly underqualified for the job, but still had an interview. It was apparent up front that I wasn't what they were looking for, but the guy interviewing me was really cool about it and was very respectful of the situation.

I'm going to take a few minutes to write up a quick letter thanking him for his time even though I wasn't the right person for the job.

It's a small company and my resume is being sent off to a different department for something that I'm a better fit for. If for nothing else, it's a quick and painless jesture on my part and just might help land a job in a different position.

Thanks everyone for your help, the letter has been sent. I know the letter won't get me the job but if they are trying to decide between me and a similar candidate the letter might push me over the top 🙂
