need a good ssh client

i need to do some remote java programming, and putty makes emacs look like sh!t. anyone know of a higher quality ssh client?

I did have putty but I just went ahead and installed linux as a virtual machine and can do all my work in there, either remotely or locally and then ftp to the lab computers to update/retrieve my files.
