Need a good software program to make music with?

Well, I have been using Cubasis VST for a couple months now. It has been working ok for what I need to do but I have always wanted something a little better. I have a Creative Audigy 2 ZS plat. Pro. Unfortunately after I reformatted, i lost my Cubasis CD 🙁 so now I need a new one. All I used Cubasis for was to import music from my Piano and record audio to finish the song. Are there any programs a little better than Cubasis? I may even want to create beats with a program as well! Any suggestions?

Home Studio 2 (by Cakewalk) and Tracktion 2 (by Mackie) are both good entry-level applications. I know there's a free demo for Tracktion2 on Mackie's site. I think there's a demo for an older version of Sonar at Cakewalk's site, which is similar to Home Studio. Or you can try Quartz Audio Master which is freeware and has a very similar interface to Cubasis

Reason's a good program but it's very confusing at first glance.

Fruity Loops is a slightly easier to understand program that uses loops to make music. Used mainly to make hip-hop but you can really make anything you want.
