Going to be setting up a printer on a network for a bunch of kids. I am going to need a laser printer that will do the job. It needs to be reliable, fairly cheap, and maybe run under linux, cus i got a bunch of p3's that I don't what to pay to upgrade to w2k.

Any laser that runs real or emulated Post Script should do fine for both Win and Linux. I don't think any of that type are Win printers. Not going to be the cheapest but should be able to find something under $500. I think there was a popular Samsung at around $300. that was networkable and runs PS for its PCL. I think this was it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16828112017 - sometimes available at ~$300 on sale.

Brother HL-2070n has an ethernet jack, but the toner and the drum are two separate units, which means $$ for consumables. My dad has a multi-function Brother laser and the drum is about $150, toner is $30 each.

Personally I like separate drum and toner units. One drum should last thru multiple toners. Should save money over time.
