hey guys i have a 3.06b and 2gbs of pc2700 ram. i was going to sell these off or trade for a 3.0c and 2gbs of pc3200 but i can't find buys for the pc2700, so i'm thinking of just overclocking the two instead. that having been said, i need a good overclocking mobo. any reccomendations?

Time for me to learn something here. Since the PC2700 runs at 333mhz, and the 3.06b chip runs at 533mhz, will the memory even work with that chip? Even if you get a motherboard that will run the memory, won't the chip by default run at lower speeds to be in sync with the memory?

I know my mobo limits how fast my memory can be, so I am assuming it would also limit how fast my chip could be, or how slow etc. - Edit: by this I mean, I can only use up to PC2700 on my mobo, so I assume I also couldn't use an XP 3200+ on it, or it would only run as a 2500+ or something.

How does that work?

if you have a decent motherboard you should be able to use it
it shouldn't hold back your cpu overclocks
the memory just might not overclock for two reasons: you got so much of it, and it's pc2700

that is a fast system tho regardless
let us know how it goes

good luck

that's just it though, i have a POS mobo (soyo SY-P4I 845PE V1.0- it doesn't even have an 8x AGP slot), so i want a nice one. and what exactly do you mean i might not be able to overclock it because it's pc2700? is pc2700 bad for overclocking vs. other speeds of memory?
