Need a good graphics card with great colors

Macro2

Diamond Member
Setting up a machine for graphic design. Drawing, photo editing etc. Need a good video card that has good color saturation etc. In the past Matrox was good at this. Voodoos were pretty good. I have a machine with a Geforce2 and I'm not sure how it rates with what is out there now. No need for games, just pretty color and resonably fast. 1600x1200 or better would be good.

Suggestions? Thanks, Mac

"Built by" ATI cards have very good 2D color and sharp picture, "Powered by" ATI (other brands with ATI chip) often have good 2D but it's more of a gamble.

People in the Video forum have said the Geforce4 ti cards have better 2D [ than older geforce, not ATI ] in part from nVidia asking vendors to not use such cheap components 🙂

them matrox should still be an option, if not one of the ati cards should work just has well.

I've always heard that nVidia cards were faster than any other video cards in 3D gaming, but for picture quality, espcially 2D, ATI (over nVidia, anyways) takes the crown. I don't do any graphic design so my opinion may not be important to you, but I've always read that ATI cards offer a better overall 2D picture quality with little or no decrease in speed versus their nVidia counterparts.
