need a good dvd player that can play dvd-r's

I have to say that I'm happy with my $34 Koss that I bought this year. It runs everything, seemingly, and it's got progressive scan.

99% of all new players play DVD-R. ( you can check DVDRHelp.com if the manufacturer doesn't say )

I like the $100 Sony I bought about a year and a half ago, but you can spend much less or much more depending on what other features you want.

he already has two dvd players, but they are probably old ones since they can't play the home movies he has burned to them. they play on his computer fine.
