the kind won't cost you an arm and a leg for the ink refill!

You could try an Epson 740 using generic carts.

But mine crapped out the first time I used generic carts on it. Might be just bad luck for me.

You can also try the NEC SuperScript 1400, it's a nice B&W laser printer you could get a few months ago for $225. I haven't checked the lasest prices, but it's worth looking into. You might want to post this sort of post in the ~~~I WANNA~~~~ folder or you'll get flamed to death.
