Need a good content(porn) filter for IE

I guess this is OS related since IE is part of the Operating System. I tried using IE to filter out content, but the engine seems to rely on a rating system that most sites don't have, like this one. If I disble the rating system criteria, their seems to be no blocking going on even though I have it set to the highest levels for sex, nudity, violence.

My kids are beginning to surf the web and it is all too easy for them to stumble upon porn. Not cool at 6 and 8 years old. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

LJ

Watch what your kids are doing.

Other than being a responsible parent you can check out netnanny, cyber patrol, and any of the other pieces of software listed on some of those porn sites.

Thanks. Of course I watch what my kids are doing. But come on, type in one mis-spelled url and bang, porn is in your face.

Thats why I included a couple of suggestions instead of just flaming you. I hate censorship, but understand that parents sometimes need help (not something to babysit their kids). Remember that none of these programs is perfect, and there are ways to get around them, but they should help out.

I'll add one of my programs, Norton Internet Security. In addition to the firewall protection, it does have allowed/denied url categories like netnanny (etc). For the ages of your children, you might consider setting up only a list of sites you allow (instead of trying to filter out those you don't want).

Best,
Bill

Do a search for a program called watchdog...have a friend with a bunch of kids who swear by that filter...no pun intended 😉
