I bought a wintv 150 a while ago and i have been trying to capturemvideo from the composiue cable from the card for playstation 2. Un fortunely, thw wintv 2000 really suck and won't let me record in lossless so i cna convert it into divx and the mpeg quality it suck very bsd. I been trying several third party program. DScaler give good quality howeveri am unable to get sound to work without buying a audo cable to connect red and white cable to the line in.

So my question here is... anyone know a good free program that will let me record in uncompress format and won't need a line in cable to sound card ?

The sound would be a function of your video in card wouldn't it?

Windows Media Encoder 9 is what I have seen most programs requiring, just run M$ GWA and its a free download. 😉

Why is the 12Mbit/s setting in WinTV not enough? Did you, by chance, use the longplay or extra longplay setting with its lower bitrate? You can even make a custom profile with an even higher bitrate.

well, mpeg2 is not exactly famous for size effecient. I am thinking of capturing using a lossless format then re compress it into divx.

Unless you've got a fast computer with HUGE disk space, recording a video uncompressed is ridiculous. You'll probably end up losing storage space before you even finish a one hour show.

With that said, use VirtualDub. It will capture video uncompressed. If your PC is fast you can just capture and compress with Divx in realtime. It's like killing two flies with one swat.

ok another question, is there any way to convert a mpeg2 into divx file? I read some guide in doom9 but ti sound confusing as hack.

Use VirtualdubMod. It's a revised version of the original Virtualdub that's capable of opening mpeg2 files.
