need a gmail invitation code

You still need to be invited to get a GMAIL account? I thought that invite thing was only at the beginning when Google introduced the service. I thought you could just sign up now.

Of course, this begets the question: If you need to be invited to sign up, how did the first guy get an account? 😕

I think they emailed a select group of people to beta test it...that or there were signups for the beta test, after so many people, they closed signups. After the bugs were worked out, they gave the testers invites, and the revolution began

yeah, it seems that they still claim to be in Beta. I can send you an invite too if you want....
