I worked ona friend's two year old gateway today. I reinstalled WinXP using the Gateway-branded OS CD, and everything installed fine. There is a 10/100 Ethernet Card in their, and i have no idea what brand it is. I was wondering if there was a generic driver that would work with it for WIndows XP.

Actually, i probably need the entire chipset driver, because windows didn't even recognize a USB controller driver, but i though XP had in on the CD? Maybe it doesn't on the gateway CDs.

You really need to find out what hardware is in there. It's a little difficult to offer any suggestions without a bit more info. Your best bet is to find out what network chipset it is / see if it is built into the chipset. Something like sandra might well help here.
