need a game recommendation

Totally enjoyed rome. First time playing a game that wasn't a shooter. What's the next game I should be playing that's similar to rome?

Umm, Medieval 2 Total War?
If you're looking for RTSes, go for Company of Heroes. Best one I've ever played. Yes, I have played Starcraft.

You've only played shooters? They're my first and favorite genre, but man there's so much more. Try Oblivion if you want an action-oriented RPG with some depth. Company of Heroes is my favorite RTS. Download Freespace 2 Open Source as well - a classic game with a load of graphical overhauls that make it look great.

Yeah, Medieval 2 is the next game with the RTW flavor just different time frame. Also be sure to check out the various mods for both games. Totalwar.org has them. Some of the mods are superior to the vanilla games.

Only thing about M2TW: if you liked RTWs campaign, you will HATE M2TWs.

Does M2TW use the same engine as rome? Same control, graphics, etc.? Is it like a total conversion of rome?

RTW, one of the greatest computer games created.

Have you tried mods for RTW? The total conversion mod Europa Barbarorum is excellent.

Also, I do recommend M2TW as well. The Broken Crescent mod for that is also great.

Sorry to say that once you've played RTW...there is nothing left.

Pretty much yeah, some new features, some better graphics. But it's basically the same game.
