My mom loved the Baldurs Gate series games. I bought her all of them. BG1-2 and IWD1-2.. Now I need a new game for her.. She has a nice Dell I bought her but the video on it isn't very good so it can't be a very graphically intense game..
Thanks for the help, I haven't played any games in years..

Diablo 1 & 2
Planescape Torment
Neverwinter Nights, awesome game but very graphical. She may be able to play at lower settings though.
Fallout 1 & 2

I don't think she'd like the Diabblo series, she likes more strategy then fighting. I'll give the others a look.. Any others?

The diablo series is nothing like baldurs gate. It basically is just clicking the mouse with a little character development, not a whole lot of strategy either.

Your mom is cool. Has she tried neverwinter nights? not exactly the same though... fallout 1 and 2 would probably do it for her.

You may want to check Arcanum out. Oh and Dungeon Siege is basically a 3D Diablo with a few more "quests."

Also, I have to add that my wife and I really did not like Neverwinter Nights at all...

I have to say that she certainly has good taste in games! I wonder if my wife would like the Bioware releases :)

Divine Divinity is a close to Baldur's Gate as you can get without being a BG game. Others mentioned Planescape: Torment, it is one of the best RPG's ever. The storyline has no equal in video games. The Fallout series are excellent, but a bit coarse in subject matter at times(if that would be an issue).

Planescape: Torment = best RPG ever.

Actually, it is the best game ever.

If your mom liked Baldurs Gate she should love that game.

Definitely get her Planescape. Also Neverwinter's Nights... then she can go online and play with others as well.

Not so much of a top-down game, but I found Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind to be a great game. This coming from a D2, NWN, DS junkie.

Planescape Torment sounds like the perfect choice. There is very little combat and the game uses the same engine as BG so the graphics aren't too advanced. I should mention that there is a ton of reading involved (PST has far more dialogue than BG) so the game does take on a "novel"esque feel that some gamers don't like. But as long as your mom doesn't have a problem with text she should love PST since it has the greatest storyline you will ever see in a video game, bar none.

I forgot to mention that Planescape Torment recently went out of print. :( There are still a few copies floating around store shelves here and there but ebay/half.com is the easiest way to buy it (assuming nobody on the AT FS/T forum is willing to part with their copy).

She's obviously into Bioware and the BG series, have her check out the IceWind Dale series. I've never played them myself, but I've seen nothing but good things about it. Very similar to BG; they tend to mirror BG releases a few months later and offer mid-grade enhancements to keep the D&D RPGer happy. I agree though, NWN is different from the BG series and failed IMO in its goal to be an involving online experience. The single player aspect isn't nearly as appealing either since you only control 1 character (which can increase with summonables). IWD is also D&D Forgotten Realms and is still party-based, so if her PC could handle BG, I think IWD would be a nice game for her. Familiar, yet new.......

She already played and beat the IWD's series.. I wasn't sure about the Planescape Torment, I heard it was really short. I guess I will go get it tonight... I don't think NWN would be her kind of game, one person online games just don't seem like her..

All 3 are great choices. If she likes the military / tech settings like Fallout she might also enjoy Jagged Alliance 2 (now out again in a Gold edition). Squad-level tactical combat like in BG / IWD but with assault rifles and gernades. Better combat system than Fallout Tactics, especially since Tactics crippled the targeted shots of "real" Fallout.

I still have my copy :)

But I am never going to sell it. I should back it up though... I keep forgetting to do that.
