I've looked into gorb, and it says the socket version doesn't fit socket 7 very well (which is what I have) I"m willing to spend up to $30, and would preferable like to buy mine from 2cooltek.com because I already have an order that I would like to tack this onto. I"m worried mostly about compatability - will the fan work with my CPU? It's kind of hard to get this info off the site.

The fans offered at 2cooltek are:
GlobalWin FOP32
Alpha PEP66 FC-PGA (PIII socket) Cooler
Alpha PEP66 Kit
Ultra PEP66 Kit w/38cfm fan
Alpha PAL35t FC-PGA Cooler
Alpha PAL35t Kit
Ultra PAL35t Kit, w/38cfm fan
GlobalWin FKP32
Golden Orb
RDJD K601 Socket Cooler
Vantec SI5
GlobalWin FDP32
GlobalWin CPM-32

Any information would be helpful. Thanks a bunch

I just got an ALPHA PAL-6035 and it seems to be great...It finaly let me run stable but my system is still hot though (See my other post "running hot and not sure why").in simple words before i got my ALPHA i had to run my PC with the case off and could only run it for a litte while before overheating, now i have the case on and it runs fine just at 49-54 degrees Cel ..Also from what i read on the net the ALPHA was the best one b.c. it fits the most boards and out cools everything by at lest onedegree if not more...I'm curious what is the temp that your processor and case are running at???

My CPU's about 53 C, but my mobo changes with the remterature in the house...usually about 25 C, though. I actually made my decision to get the GlobalwinFOP32. I called up the 2cooltek guy, and he said it's the best one for the socket sevens (For the price, that is). Thanks for your help, though

No prob...I should be getting it Friday, and I'll post the info Friday night or Saturday sometime. I'll also be installing another case fan, which will help things a lot...on my continuing quest to get my CPU down from the "lit rocket-fuel" temperature.

I guess this is the right place for this... I just bought a K6-2 550 and had a plethora of problems with it... memory was bad and I think the chip was bad too... I have another one running and it seems that everytime I try to do anything different with my PC, it crashes... on the most simple of things, like opening the help file in Acid... I think the problems are heat related, right now I have the crappy cooler that I bought the computer with... I thought about the GoldenOrb but am not sure if it fits or not... forgot the conversion... but at one point my CPU was running at 180 F, 14? on chip (I presume this meant on top of the chip)...

is this causing my problems?

I just got the FOP32 about 2 weeks ago. Drop my temp. on my C533 by 3 to 4 degrees C*. I had a CPM-32 it was good but not like the FOP32.

I got mine at http://www.2cooltek.com

Infini - GOlden orbs don't fit socket 7 very well. The 2cooltek guy (2cooltek.com) suggested the Globalwin FOP 32 - which is what I"m getting. That might be a good choice for you, at only $20. I'm not sure whether heat is causing your problems, but that's really really high - and could easily be the cause
