need a fan controller...not sure if it'll work

I want to get a fan controller to control a case fan and the fan on my cpu heatsink.

the heatsink fan combo on the cpu is a zalman 7000-alcu. It already has its own fan controller, but i need to open the case to get to it. I want to control it from the outside with a fan contoller from the cdrom bay. Possible with my zalman?

One of my case fans is an antec tricool fan with the 3 speed adjusments built in, but again i have to open the case to get to it (why would they make them like that anyway?). Again, since it already has its own controller, would i be able to add my own to control from the cdrom bay?

If both will work with a fan controller, any good recomendations? Want to keep it under $30 if possible. I already checked a few out on newegg and they seem to be what i want...just not sure if they'll work with fans that already have fan controllers. (would i have to buy extension cables to make the fan wires reach or do they come with the controllers?)

There are methods around the web for bypassing any internal, thermal or integrated speed controls - just turn them up to high if they are manual controls. I just got a Coolermaster Aerogate 1 from http://www.SVC.com . I paid $5.99 for mine plus shipping and it was going for $4.99 earlier this week. Very nice looking and controls up to four fans. It only comes with one lead that has the speed sensor breakout so if you have fans to control which you also want to monitor the speed, you will have to buy some break out leads too. Might as well get them at the same time to save on shipping.

Or you can buy the Zalman MFC-1 fan controller - it's about 30 shipped from ZZF or Newegg usually. Has 4 fan control dials (no humming or whine) and 2 12V/5V/off switches for CCFLs or fans.

THe Coolermaster Aerogate 1 looks good. Will it fit in a case with a door (antec sonata to be specific...it looks like the knobs r small enough)? Also, will the controller work with my zalman cpu cooler?

not sure what you mean by the speed sensor break out leads...are they just for monitoring speed? How?

I like the silverstonetek fp52 automatic fan controller. It controls up to 4 fans an automatically adjust the speed of each one when the temperature gets above a temp. setting that you have made.
