Need a DVD drive for my work laptop.

I'll be on the road alot so having a DVD drive to play movies on my nice 14" TFT laptop screen would be nice.

Unfortunately the OS is WinNT 4.0 and there is just a CD-ROM drive in there now. It is a Compaq Armada E500. The Compaq bay-mount DVD that replaces the CD-ROM is $350! What are my options for external portable DVD drives? Anyone have any experience and suggestions? I only need 2X or faster read.
 
laptop DVD-ROM is kinda pricey. This is what I did rip my DVD's into DIVX and took it with me on the road. Just a suggestions to save some money.
 
Thanks for the info, paldo but unfortunately that's not really an option for me. I don't have a DVD drive at all to rip the files and huge .VOB files will take up too much space. Anyone else?
