Need a digicam, sometihing good, but easy to use for a beginner (not DSLR).

It must be able to be controlled remotely (user is disabled). Wired remotes are okay, and actually preferred. Size doesn't matter, and neither does price. Any ideas?

If size and price don't matter, why not go for a DSLR? They all have auto modes and stuff.

It's just too much for her, even with the auto modes (I have a D30, and she says no).

Canon G6. Has a wireless remote and you can use it manually, or just set it to auto.

Have you ever used the remote? Is it RF or IR? Is it very dependent on orientation?

I used the remote for my G3. I think it's IR but i'm not sure. It worked pretty well for me. You have to be in either to the side of it, or in front of the camera for it to work though...there are sensors on the side and front.

Yea, the remote for the G6 is IR with a 5m range.

Bought the V1, the wire remote is kinda foolproof so went with that...which was painful, being a Canon guy.
