the golden retriever thread reminded me of something I'd been thinking about for awhile... I'm trying to figure out a setup where I could comfortable game from a couch.

my dog hates it when I game and has mastered the art of nuzzling his nose between my arm and my mouse to prevent me from gaming... but I was thinking, maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I was using my computer while sitting on a couch, where he could just jump up and lay beside me and I could use his head as an arm rest :p

I've got a beat-up love seat taking up space in my living room that I was thinking about using, but I can't seem to find the perfect desk for it. any recommendations? I figure I need something that's light enough that I can easily move into position once I'm sitting on the couch (and out of position when I need to get up), big enough to support a 22" monitor + keyboard/mouse, and low enough to be able to comfortable use while sitting on a couch.

all the tables I've tried so far have been too high and too much of a pain in the ass to move when I need to get onto or out of the couch.

/random bump now that the morning crew is trickling in... I was looking at tv trays on google (maybe put my pc on a table parallel to the counch and my v/k/m on the tv tray) but they all seem kind of flimsy.

Probably the easiest way is to buy a laptop desk, then get one of those TV trays that hangs over the couch. You can put your keyboard on the laptop tray and your mouse on the TV tray hanging over the side of the arm on your chair.

Second vote for a laptop tray. It is actually what I use at my apartment for my 37" monitor.

The swivel/tilt is great for browsing while relaxed. It is best if your couch has a lot of clearance under it so the wheels on the cart can roll under it. 20

Kind of like one of these:

You can find them at Staples and probably any other store that carries computer stuff (Wal-mart, CompUSA, etc.). The one I saw at Staples had a nice comfy pillow under the tray. However, none of them are very big so they can probably only fit your keyboard. For the mouse, find a TV tray like this:

Then position the tray over the right arm of your chair.

I have always dreamed of PC gaming from a Lay-Z-Boy. I guess its more complicated and difficult than I thought it would be. I thought there would be some super product on the market by now that makes this easier...seems like everyone is still having to rig their own thing together.

Check your Craigslist. I bought my tray for $5 locally, and realized it was about $80 retail. 79
