I'm tired of cleaning my mouse interior rollers to keep the mouse working well, especially it is a problem in gaming. I'd like to buy a modestly priced optical mouse to hopefully avoid the cleaning issue and get reliable operation.

So far the Microsoft Basic Optical looks and feels decent - I think it has a wirelss version too, but I don't really want to have to deal with batteries going dead at an inopportune time. Are there versions with a cradel recharger like cordless phones so the mouse sits there when not in use, always fully charged and ready to use? Are those expensive? Suggestions?

wireless is not a must, but good responsive mouse without regular cleaning is.

Sweet zombie jesus, and here I thought that I had to be the last person in the world to abandon ball mice.

Yep, I'm still in the dark ages! The logitech made ball mouse that came with my Dell has actually been very decent so far - I like the feel and the buttons etc - and has been minimual in the carpal tunnel dept.

I'll check the Logitech mice again. Main thing is cleaning the rollers needs cease - so Optical seems the logical route. Cordless might be nice too since the cord does often get hung up etc. I just don't want run down batteries to become the next issue.

I have an MS Optical Intellimouse 3000. Been using for at least 6 months, probably more on the same batteries.

Good to know batteries last 6 months or longer.

My hand isn't medium to smallish for a 6' tall guy, which is why the Dell/Logitch has been fine - it is on the small side too. I may just buy local as I don't think I want to wait for mail order as the savings may be minimal anyway.
