i was thinking cheaper

the 603 is 500$ and the 503 is 300$

i wad thinking like 200 ish

It's a shame it has to be black, because onkyo has some pretty good deals on refurbished silver recievers. If you can wait, something in black might show up.

btw, I got my sherwood 6150 5.1 from outpost 2 years ago for $99, and it has worked flawlessly - would definately recommend these.

it doesnt HAVE to be black i just however HATE non black electronics, i think my rents are indefferent

jr.com has a black Onkyo 502 factory refurb for $150 + ship, 503 factory refurb $160 + ship.

Both have 1-year Onkyo warranties

The Panasonic SA-XR55 is nice for around $230. 7.1 (despite what amazon says) and all digital.

best receiver under $500 - nothing else comes close.

(receivers, like speakers, are subjective, so don't jump on my ass if you don't like the digital pannys)

I just got one of these last week. IMO, its a great deal.

I've been looking for something that could switch component inputs and am targetting either the xr55 or onkyo's lr552 (although it was a steal when it was $99 clearanced at circuit city).

Motorola has one that woot.com usually has on it's deal. It's a nice reciever. Next time it goes on sale, I'm grabbin one to replace my Pioneer...

you get what you pay for.

I have an Onkyo that I got in 98, still running great....nice clean power with awesome sound pounding through my Polk Audios , RT2000s with great surrounds and high dollar center..

it really makes difference.
