I had the AMEX Blue for students with membership rewards.. I would use the points to get gift certificates to banana republic, etc.

I upgraded this card to a AMEX Blue cash thinking cash back might be better but I would rather have points than cash back.

I called AMEX but they told me they can't change anything and I would have to apply for another card that has membership rewards

I also have Citi Platinum Dividend card for cash back... looking for a credit card with reward points so I can get gift certificates or airline miles, etc.... and no annual fee.

Citibank Diamond Preferred Rewards Card
5 pts per dollar for gas/groceries, 1 pt per dollar everywhere else. WIDE selection of rewards to choose from. You can redeem your points via their website, and you get your stuff pretty quickly - took only about a week to receive our Best Buy gift card this last time.

Agreed...

<--- AMEX Blue Cash

its 0.2% or something cashback sucks tho. dividend is the way to go.

For me it's 1% for regular purchases, 2% for airplane tickets out and 3% for eating out. Maybe it wasn't called blue cash. It's the costco thing.

as long as your credit is good, most will approve you i believe, as long as you have some sort of steady income. even if you're a student, you could get by.

OP, listen to rossman. did you ever think about using the $50 that citibank gives you back to buy a gc from anywhere you wanted?

IMHO once Blue discontinued BVG, it lost all it's appeal.

Nope, I wish.

Amex cc has no annual fee.
CostCo still carries an annual fee for Gold, Business and Executive members.

darn. i'm also looking for a good CC. i am using a linuxfund card which is helping out the linux community, but i'm now all about getting rewards. i'm still unsure of what to get.

now if only that link you provided above wasn't giving me a 500-internal server error, i could look into it.
