Can anyone recommend a place where I can find a decent deal on a couple of plastic floppy drive / 3.5" PC bay covers? Somewhere along the road, I have evidently miscplaced mine when I moved, and I find myself needing one right now to cover up an open slot in the PC that I just put together. There is a hard drive right behind it, so it can't have anything that sticks back. I just need a plain plastic cover, preferably beige.

I did a search for this on Amazon, and all that seemed to keep coming up was 5.25" bay adapters that let you put 3.5" items in them.....

Sadly, they're slightly different on nearly every case out there and will need to come from the case manufacturer to be a perfect fit. Over the years, I've modded many a cover to fit the hole.

You buy Gaffer tape 2" in a color of your choice,

What is Gaffer tape? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaffer_tape

You buy it here https://www.amazon.com/Gaffer-Tape/b?ie=UTF8&node=10649404011

Cut a piece that is long enough to cover the spot with extra space from both side. Cut a second piece that is exactly the size of the opening and stick it in on the back of the external piece so it will cover the opening from inside and use the whole thing to cover the opening.

Ugh, I might as well just heat some nichrome wire and melt through a sheet of PVC plastic I have out in the garage to cut it to size, then....

Sure...you could do that...OR, you could post the case manufacturer and model...and let us try to find the parts for you.

Something like these:

Those are all just generic "3.5" floppy drive case opening covers." With better info, I suspect better parts could be found.

Hah, my oldest son took care of the issue for me - he found a 3.5" cover up at my parents' place, probably one from the various PC's that we have fiddled with over the years...
