Hey everyone.

Im have a post in the want to be forum but would like some help finding this part. I have attached the pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Picture of Front

Picture of Back

Does anyone know what kind of connector this is, or where I can get one??

This is the part that sticks out of the Lower Tray of my Dell 3100CN. It connects to the actual printer so that they can communicate with each other.

My dell printer was dropped during a move and it was damaged. The 3100cn cannot work without connecting to the bottom tray. All I need is this little piece of plastic! It comes right off of the main chip on the tray and just needs to be replaced.

Let me know guys!

Thanks

You may have to replace the entire tray - replacement parts like that are seldom stocked as they are custom made for the production run. And the only source for those if available would be dell or the company that OEMed the printer for them. I've almost never had any luck getting components of an assembly like that unless they were standard parts that I could find in the Mouser or Newark catalogs. Check eBay and other parts sources for a replacement tray as well as Dell, of course. Good luck.

Looks like there is one up for bid right now on eBay with a bit over 6 hours to go. Hop on it!

And there is a complete 3100CN machine except for no toners at a low bid right now - unfortunately it's in New Jersey so shipping might be a killer. You could keep your dropped unit as a parts horse for that.

IAC, I'd call Dell first and see what they could do for you - then on to the above options.

Yeah as said, it's probably a custom part. You may be able to root through a digikey catalog and find a similar one. If it were my printer I'd just hardwire the things together with a soldering iron and some wire.

Actually looking at the pic, have you tried poking out the holes with a needle? It doesnt seem too damaged and you may be able to get it to work, just be gentle with it.

Thanks for your replies guys. I was hoping this might be a common connector that you guys might of known about. I will look on ebay for a new tray as dell does not carry replacements for this anymore.

Thank again.

Good news.

Starting poking holes in it with a needle but couldnt pry it open. I started doing it off and on throughout the day. I was able to dig out the plastic but the metal pins in the last two holes were badly damaged. Since the holes in the plastic were big enough to fit the prongs from the printer I figured it wouldnt hurt to try.

Well started her up and she works!

Not sure what those last 2 prongs will affect but so far so good.

Thanks Guys
