We've been taking a lot of casual videos of our kids, mainly for YouTube and such. We'd like to start taking some in HD.

I was just about to pay $130 for a Creative Vado when it occurred to me that we could probably upgrade our trusty Elph SD700 and get something that can take 720p video without carrying around two pieces of equipment.

The SD780 generally gets good reviews, and we've always loved Canons. Is there another brand/model I should take a look at before I buy the SD780 for $230?

TIA.

I can get the SD960 for $270, so price is good. Is the SD960 worth the extra price vs a SD780?

I'm curious about some of the Panasonic Lumix models.

After doing some research, I think I'll try out the Panasonic ZS3 or TS1. Considering we take our camera to the beach/pool a lot, the TS1 might be nice.

I'm kicking myself a bit for not picking up a new TZ5 for $100 at MicroCenter a couple days ago...

Ended up getting the Lumix TS1 for $340. Wasn't planning on getting an underwater camera but it had all the other features I was looking for and it was $60 cheaper than a ZS3. And it came in Orange.

Now to make shark videos set to the Jaws soundtrack with the kids in the pool...
