My mom needs to buy a coin counter for the middle school that she works at. She has been given a budget of up to $150 (including s/h, tax, ect.).

Through the many differnt programs, the machine will be used to count hundreds of dollars of change, so I would like a very sturdy/ good quality one. Thanks for your imput!

it would suck if they had to use the change to buy a change counter. :p then there would be no change to count!

For $150 you aren't going to get a very heavy duty model. Look up in your yellow pages for bank supplies. I know my local bank paid $1,300 for their coin sorter.

I know that I won't find a bank-quailty machine for this price range, but I would like to find the best one that is under $150.

Man... my dad used to own a 7-Eleven, and I DREADED having to help count the thousands of dollars of change people put in those damn MDA jars every year.

I'd rather write them a check and throw the change in the garbage than count any more change. :p

Good luck. :)

Edit: FYI - since it's for a charity, ask a bank if they'll help you out. My dad's bank would do the pennies for free every year. Of course that meant we still had to sort them out. But still better to bring them several milk crates full of pennies than to count several milk crates full of pennies by hand :)

Thanks for the imput, but believe it or not, our banks charge for this service (7% off even though it is for charity!)

Don't a few banks offer free coin counting for customers? I believe Commerce Bank does.

Wow, that sucks. :( My dad's bank was a small local bank, so that might have been a factor.

my bank does it for free...they even have a machine in the lobby....you put your coins in...it gives you a slip...then you take it to a teller and you can either get a check/cash/or deposit right then and there.

Man, I wish we had that here. Bank One/ Chase and Bank of America both charge. I haven't tried Wells Fargo yet, but I think thats about it for the banks that we have here.
