Need a cheapy video card

Sooooo.... I have an oldish Dell PC that I use for audio recording in a makeshift home studio. I need to upgrade the monitor for more real estate, and in turn, I think I need to get a better video card so that it can handle all the junk on the screen.

Would I be cool with just getting an old GeForce 4 of some sort? Oh yeah, its AGP 8x.

Might be worth it to get a GeForce 6200 or Radeon X1300 if you ever plan on running Vista or 7. Otherwise I'm not sure you'll even need a video card. What does it currently have?

Heck, I've got a BFG 6800GT w/Zalman that you can have for $28 shipped.

Damn, I remember when that card was $400 and I wanted it but I had to get the non-GT 6800 for $270 instead.

Yeah, just buy that!

Wow...for serious? I might hit you up on that one... lol!

Well, right now its a just a regular old P4 3.4GHz/800MHz fsb. I don't know if its the prescott core or not... socket 478. Runs on PC2700 ram.

Yup, definitely serious. 🙂 I retired my last AGP system around Nov (was a 3.2GHz Northwood Dell that overheated and died) and the 6800GT is just sitting around.
