Need a cheap video capture card, to capture from a VCR??

Please more feedback, the system will have Win XP and GeForce 4 in so they need to be happy living in the same box.

Thanks 😀

I second the Leadtek card. Been using one for almost a year now. Simply awesome! Now, if only someone can give me some tips on hooking that up with my soon to be arriving A7N8X I'll be a happy camper... 🙂

Does anyone have any sample clips from the Leadtek?? Or does anyone know of a site that has some clips from different cards?

ok, so once i get this card for vid capture, i still need to get a sound card with RCA capture prorts, or can i jsut get some RCA->1/8" MINI JACK adapter?

what software should I use to do the recording?

(my dad wants to digitize all his home videos (VHS))

Eh, why recommend a card with a tuner if it is unnecessary for the job at hand? You can save 30% without it on the other Leadtek.

i know this thread was about hookin it up to a vcr but wut bout a dvd player or ps2? can the Leadtek PCI TV/FM Tuner Card, REMOTE, Model "TV2000XP/EXPERT" -RETAIL record high quality videos? i know it says it does but i just bought a ATI ALL-In-Wonder VE for $40 and it said that it can record high quality too. but the best it can do is 320x160 image dats blurry. Can the Leadtek do 640x480 with dvd quality?

if it cant, is there another one that can do that well? (money is not an issue)

I have a Leadtek TV2000 Deluxe. It can capture TV @ DVD resolution MPEG-2 compression.

Remember, TV itself is a pretty low resolution. If you running windows @ 800x600 or higher the TV picture is going to be blurry on the computer screen no matter what. If you burn to CD/DVD and play it back on TV, it will look very similar to TV.
