I have no use for a cdrw for myself since I can just use the ones at work so I haven't bothered to read up about them. I don't really care about the speed aslong as its able to write at 4x+ for both cdrs and cdrws. I figure it will spend most of its life burning music both from mp3s and other cds so I dought I really need anything special but I would like to get a decent brand. Sofar I have found this Panisonic 7585 $129 andthis samsung. Just would like to know if either of those are decent or if there are other better ones out there for around the same money or perferably less 🙂.

the two you have found should be acceptable for the uses you have described, i dont care much for products from samsung i think they use inferrior electronic componants in ALL of there products. Panisonic has always made good floppy drives i dont know about there cdrw quality but i would be willing to bet they are much better then samsung.

Yamaha drives are very good and usually quite cheap.
You could probably find a 4x4x16 for a good price.

And I second ModemMix's conclusions on Samsung, I have always found panasonic to have very high quality stuff and Samsung to be mediocre at best (Samsung's monitors are very popular, and seem pretty good but other than that they seem to make crap..)
