No - I will ride that bike as much as her, but I want it to be primarily "hers"

My brother just picked up a bike in good shape for $75 and he looked it up and it costs 400+ at the store new
Most nice bike wouldn't end up in a yard sale. Just scan the paper for the for sale section, and look out or call to find out when you local police department have an auction. Another venue for a good used bike is posting board at the local college, or laundromat.Originally posted by: Mwilding

The novelty will wear off real quick if she has to do any real distant or up hill with that poor engineered bike.Originally posted by: Spamela

Seat/weight is not center and seat to pedal is too short therefore you can not apply full power too it.
All bikes have 0 for safety when on the road, because you have very little or no protection. The best is to learn to listen, look, and ride where there are little or no cars.Originally posted by: Spamela

the goals are comfort & safety.
she's never going uphill or fast with 2 artificial knees.

I'm not sure if that design is going to give you more comfort than other standard bikes, but the only sure thing is that it offer the ability to put your feet on the ground.
Form over function. Sitting position on that bike will force your knees to work harder, because it doesn?t allow full legs extension to utilize the quads. And, the monkey bar design also will tire the arm and shoulder quickly. I personally feel that going for walk/hike will provide more health benefit than riding that thing.
The back and ass pain complaint is understandable because your body has to get use to a bike seat and seating position requires adjustment to minimize back pain. Most people find it is more comfortable to be upright therefore the market serves the demand with MTB & hybrid (less neck and back pain than road bike). A well fitted seat will minimizes sore and softer seat may be the ticket for people that don?t ride often.
haven't read any review for it, however my assumtion is that the reviewers didn't use it for long trips or have much experience with it if there is any review on the Electra.have you seen the reviews for electras?
I have ridden many bikes since I were a kid with banana seats & spring seats that put me over the rear wheel and have had friends that are advocated toward the monkey bars when purchasing their bikes (they now purchased and ride MTB while their retro bikes collecting dust in their garage).have you even ridden one?
The best way to find out is to test ride the bike for an hour or so (most bike store allow this) and find out for yourself which bike suit your needs. However, a "cruiser" is just a fad that people want to go back the their childhood when they had or yearn for a brand-new banana seat bike come loaded with spokes reflectors, bell/horn, handlebars streamers, and hockey cards. The Electra purpose is for bling, bling and short 2-3 blocks commute not serious day riding at a park/beach.and why are you talking about getting the power down from full leg extension on a cruiser
