Need a case to survive a dusty and dirty environment.

My job wants to put a computer out on the factory floor. The keyboard is easy with just putting a keyboard condom on it. But how do I protect the monitor and even more importantly the stuff inside the case. To give you an idea of the environment anything sitting out there for a week will be black with dust & dirt. The factory people have to wear one of those air mask thingys on their mouth and nose. I suspect an unprotected computer out there wouldn't last very long.

So my question is, where can I get something to protect the monitor and where can I get either a case or addons for a case to protect the contents of the case? I can set the case up so it has no floppy or cd-rom if need be but no clue what else I should do.
Thanks.

I dont know what you can do to protect the monitor since it needs to have openings to vent the large ammounts of heat it generates.

Most PC cases you could at best put some filters on the fans. I have worked in some warehouses and have not seen what you are looking for. I would immagine that something exists for use in volitile environments and labratories. I imagine you could use silicone calking to seal off the drive bay block off plates and some of the case edges to reduce the ammount of dust that can get in.

They fortunately decided to move it into the cage which has less direct exposure to dirt and dust. We'll use a cheap monitor and just put a dust cover on it when not in use. The filters and silicone caulk sound good. Only question I have is do I need to put one on the power supply fan? If I do where do I put it? If I use filters, I have a choice of using the inwin s500 or a500 case. Problem is both of these have a strip on the bottom to let air in. Do they make some kind of good sheet of filter stuff that I can cut to what I need?
Thanks.

How about an LCD, probably be more durable than a CRT

*sigh* Apparently on top of all this I'm told I have a very limited budget to do so. So it looks like a monitor dust cover, some silicon caulk, and intake filters. Anyone know where I can get sheets of intake filter stuff?
Thanks.

I'm looking for intake filters as well. I went to two specialty electronics stores today and neither had it. They suggested air conditioner filters and cut them up. Sounded like a good idea but I haven't gotten to a hardware store yet.

You can also buy them from some of the online puter stores.

For my fan intakes, I just used standard air-conditioner filter material. It seems to work just fine.

Keep your airflow input from the fans higher than your output from fans creating positive pressure inside your case pushing air out the cracks instead of drawing it in through the cracks.
If the sides of your case has inlets, mask them off, unless they are at the top or air will be drawn in through them along with dust. Use good filters on excess fannage for intake and keep them clean. My 2 cents.

Thanks for the input. I'll have to take a trip down to home depot this week and pick some up.
