I have an HP Vectra, 1gig Processor and 512MB Ram. Setting it up for my nephew, he wants to play HL2 and Unreal tournament. Any suggestions on a video card?

Thanks!!

That CPU is really going to limit you and make the games pretty choppy. Does that machine even have an AGP slot?

1ghz processor is under the minimum requirement for hl2

im pretty sure it needs at least 1.5ghz... probably more to play smoothly

yeah, unfortunately that poor system is pretty much useless as far as playing new games

He could always pick up a copy of the original Unreal Tournament (1999). People still play it online and it's generally regarded as being far superior in its gameplay to UT 2003 (awful) and UT 2004 (barely tolerable). There are still lots of populated server to play on during prime time. He could probably get a copy of UT GOTY (UT Game of the Year edition) for $5 shipped off of eBay.

A friend of mine actually did somehow play Half-Life 2 on a P3 700MHz and Geforce 3...I wouldn't touch that setup with a ten-foot pole though, I bet it was a slideshow even staring at walls. :Q

Kinda what I was thinking. I do have a copy of the older Unreal that should work. The system does have an agp slot 4x. Thinking about a ATI 9600 card. Thanks!
