Need a bit of help with mobo choice.

I'm thinking about building a whole new box (PII 300 is getting kinda old), and I've done some research on potential mobos I might plan on using. Right now I'm looking at the Abit KT7A-Raid or the EpoX 8K7A for DDR. I would perhaps consider the EpoX 8K7A+ for both the Raid and DDR, but the price doesn't seem right. I'm planning on using this computer for basic home user tasks (music, word processing, etc.) as well as some solid gaming. Considering all this, should I go with a DDR, Raid, or DDR + Raid mobo? Of course, I would consider other mobos besides the Abit and Epox, so if any of you people have alternative ideas, I would be more than happy to entertain them.

Well, At Newegg.com the 8K7A is only 130 Dollars and the K7TA RAID is a little more I tihnk. You only need RAID if you have more then one HD and want to setup a "RAID" between them. I think you might as well go DDR since you're starting from scartch and not just upgrading the ram, otherwise the KT133A chip would be the way to go IMO. I also had this decision and I made mine up by going the DDR way. YOu might want to wait until early n ext month, because new revisions of the anticipated KT266 chip will be out. It is very promising. Good luck.

i would get the ABIT KG7-RAID motherboard. It has DDR support + RAID. Its a good motherboard. Check it out at ABIT's Site.
