OK,
So I just did a complete reformat and reinstall of 98se on a friends computer.
I went into Network settings, assigned a computer name from my cable ISP to update windows, and changed network logon to windows logon (I hate the logging in screen at start-up), installed the NIC drivers, directX, audio and video drivers (810 motherboard). Deleted the "Setup MSN" and "Online Services" from the desktop.
Now, when I start up, I get an error message just before windows finishes loading. I states that vnetsetup.vxd, vredir.vxd and dfs.vxd are all deleted/unavailable, but the registry/system/ini are still looking for them.
Then, when I get into Windows, I get an error box stating "unable to load the dynamic link library, msnp32.dll is missing"(or something to that extent) "Microsoft Network is unavailable"
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated... I'm sure this can be fixed rather then having to reinstall
Thanks
