I seen these before. Lightweight strong for traveling. On cruises they don't let you take a bike, much rather have you rent them at ports. We are going on two cruises this winter and I bet they would pay for themselves with all the ports of call. Who makes the best?

Bike Friday makes a wide range of quality folders, too. Be sure to include the travel cases, which run ~$200.

If you want a more traditional bike, S and S couplers (shown above) can be adapted a lot of bikes.

mpo speaks truth. S&S couplers can be used with a fair number of normal bikes. Bike Friday is a good folding bike company, although there are others such as Dahon that MikeMike referenced.

A number of full suspension mountain bikes are also reasonably simple to disassemble for packing.

Folding's the easiest and smallest of the options.

Thanks - I am looking at the Dahon Curve D3 it's a three speed 16" wheels and small enough to get into suitcases and carry them on trails/mountains when off boat. Little high in mass about 25 lbs, but I can't seem to find anything as small and light.

It's about $500 and will pay for itself in a week. Ground transportation is outrageous when off boat, about 100-$150 a day, plus no freedom.

these are pretty nice... the seat post has a built in air pump to inflate the tires...

only problem is they are 1 speeds... i know they make multi speeds, but not sure where they are sold....

I like this concept. No cables. Simple. 22 lbs.

They make a SL it seems which is only 18lbs 9 speed.

Anyway thanks for turning me on to this company.

We own a couple of full-size folding Dahons. Mine's a Jack & my wife has an Espresso. Both are very well built, but probably bigger than what you are looking for.

I would definitely recommend the brand.

Good to hear. 95% of them won't fit in our suitcases 30" x 25" max I have to work with or I'd just get two of those Unos. Looks like 'curve' is it. Wife like red anyway. Thanks.

LOL pumping tires with up and down motion on the bike seat... Some one needs to epoxy a sex toy so the tires are pumped in no time...
