Hurt my neck a while back and the pain still lingers a bit. I notice it being the worst in the morning and I think my pillow (pretty flat, basic Sealy one) plays a big role in that.

Anyone else suffering from neck pain who can suggest a good pillow? Not looking to spend a fortune but I can't really put a price tag on a good night's sleep and pain-free neck. But I'd like to keep it under $50 if possible. Currently browsing on Amazon but there are soooo many to consider.

FWIW, I tend to be a side sleeper if that helps with suggestions. Thanks.

My stepmom has a horrible time with her neck and back and she swears by her buckwheat filled pillow. it is really intersting to sleep on and it always stays cool!

I have occasional pain in my neck. I have found that sleeping with a second pillow between my knees alters the alignment of my spine and relieves the pressure in my upper back and neck. I sleep on my side, and when I roll over I somehow reset the pillow unconsciously.

Overstock has some good deals on Memory Foam ones but I wonder about those being so firm that I can't sleep comfortably on them. Anyone use one and if so, how was your transition for a standard pillow to the Memory Foam?

They have some buckwheat filled ones too that I may read up on.

I have the same problem because I'm a restless sleeper. I find memory foam too hard as well.

The problem is that standard pillows compress over time, and no longer offer support. I hear the buckwheat filled ones are less prone to this, but haven't tried them.

One idea I've thought of is a pillow filled with small, gell filled spheres that can't be distorted, but are soft at the same time.

You could try one of These. On a serious note, I suffer from the similiar chronic neck pain until I purchased a memory foam pillow Brookstone. Thou, the pillow didn't elimate the neck pain completely it did however easy the pain.

Did you find it difficult to get used to? I'm not a big fan of firm pillows so as I said before, I worry about not being able to adjust to it. I haven't ever slept on memory foam but I've pressed down on displays and it just seems really dense to me.

Yes, flat pillows are the absolute worst. I had an old pillow that was really flat and I would wake up in the morning with stiffness and headaches. Take a look at some of the Sealy ones, and make sure whatever you get is nice and fluffy.

There are tons of soft but thick pillows. To keep your neck fairly straight, a flat pillow is useless. Side-sleepers need thick pillows. It will take at least a week to get accustomed to a thicker pillow (so don't give up too easilly). And change it out every year at least because the soft and thick ones do compress and lose their thickness.

I'm not a fan of really expensive pillows, but that is just my opinion.
