Need a bank in Atlanta

I need a bank that has a branch near to my home in Brookhaven and is not named Wachovia or Bank of America. I prefer smaller banks because they tend to treat you better but all I really need right now is a checking account for direct deposit of my salary and somewhere that I can deposit extra checks. I saw a Suntrust in my Publix. Are they nice? Any other banks that someone would suggest?
